TYLER SHIELDS

Tyler Shields, an American photographer born in Florida and living in Los Angeles, is a mad genius and self taught master of his trade.  He first gained recognition for his controversial images over a decade ago and has since solidified his place amongst the best photographers of our time. Sotheby’s Auction House considers Shields “the Andy Warhol of his generation” and world-renowned companies like Hasselblad and Leica have clamored to get their cameras in Tyler’s hands.

Tyler’s natural talent and endless drive are undeniable. His work embodies the idea that art should comfort the disturbed and disturb the comfortable. Shields’ provocative photos walk the fine line between glamour and danger, sometimes jumping rope with it.  His first photography book, The Dirty Side of Glamour (2013), is a visual commentary on fame, excess, youth, the trappings of celebrity, and the power of letting go while his subsequent book, Provocateur (2017), captures the development of his oeuvre,  highlighting both his creative brilliance and technical ability.
